Two deals, two prices, two discounts — and no obvious way to tell which one actually costs less? Enter the price and discount for each offer, and you’ll see both final prices side by side, plus a clear result showing which deal is cheaper and by how much.

What Is the Deal Comparison Calculator?

It’s a simple tool for answering a common shopping question: is the bigger advertised discount really the cheaper deal?

You can’t tell from percentages alone. A smaller discount on a lower starting price can beat a bigger discount on a higher price. This calculator applies each deal’s discount to its own starting price, compares the final prices, and shows the difference.

How to Use the Deal Comparison Calculator

  1. Enter the price and discount percentage for Deal A.
  2. Enter the price and discount percentage for Deal B.
  3. Click Calculate.
  4. Compare both final prices and see which deal costs less.

Formula

Final Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount % ÷ 100)

The calculator runs the formula once for Deal A and once for Deal B, then compares the results.

Examples

Say the same laptop is listed at two stores. Store A: $500 with 20% off = $400. Store B: $450 with 10% off = $405. Store A is cheaper by $5. Even though Store A started with the higher price, its larger discount brings the final price slightly below Store B.

Here’s a tie: Deal A is $60 at 25% off = $45. Deal B is $50 at 10% off = $45. Different original prices and discounts, but exactly the same final price.

Now consider a case where the larger advertised percentage doesn’t win: Deal A is $100 at 30% off = $70. Deal B is $80 at 20% off = $64. Deal A has the bigger percentage discount, but Deal B is still $6 cheaper because it started at a lower price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which discount is actually better between two deals?

Calculate the final price of each offer. The deal with the lower final price is cheaper, regardless of which one advertises the larger percentage.

Why did the deal with the smaller percentage off end up cheaper?

Because the starting prices were different. A smaller percentage applied to a much lower price can produce a lower final cost.

Can I use this to compare more than two deals at once?

The calculator compares two offers at a time. For three or more deals, compare them in pairs.

Does this account for shipping, tax, or fees?

No. It compares the item prices after the discounts you enter.

What if both deals come out to the same price?

The calculator treats them as equal. You can then compare non-price factors such as delivery, warranty, return policy, or convenience.

Can I use this for coupon codes?

Yes, if both coupons are percentage-based. If one is a fixed amount such as $15 off, use the Coupon Savings Calculator for that offer first.

Is 30% off always better than 20% off?

No. If the original prices are different, the 20%-off item can still have the lower final price.
